  3. I believe the price depends on your location. I've tried to fix mine in the official Nikon service in Prague. It cost me around 100 euros and didn't work out :( But still it's cheaper than buy a new one.

And estimates can range between 4-5 hundred bucks. Unfortunately you won't know until Nikon actually has the lens in hand, and has taken apart it apart for inspection.

Got a manual for the lens and works well ever since, I need new rubbers though. I also replaced the lens barrel complete with aperture mechanism, all electrical contacts and outer casing.
