The 28mm f/2.8 comes in two versions, a legacy-styled SE version that is a kit lens available with the Zfc camera, and the "regular" Z System style (shown above). It's a compact lens at only 2.8" (70mm) long, and a light one, too (5.5 ounces, or 155g).
The Nikon 28-75mm f/2.8 was a surprise announcement in December of 2021 for a lens not on any previous road map. Moreover, the odd specification made everyone immediately think of the Tamron Di lens that appeared in the Sony FE mount.

Weighing in at 155g / 5.7 oz 160g / 5.46 oz, the plastic bodied Nikon Z 28mm F2.8 is very light for a full-frame lens. In fact, it's the lightest Nikkor Z prime lens released to date, beating its Special Edition sibling by 5g / 0.18 oz.

6 Σεπ 2021 · Nikon cleverly put its Z 28mm f2.8 right between the existing Z 24mm f1.8 S and Z 35mm f1.8 S and made it much smaller, lighter and cheaper than both alternatives. Its slow focal ratio of f2.8 might be a bit of a let-down but was certainly decisive in reducing size, weight and price.
