There is no definitive answer. It is mostly personal preference. Even image quality is not clear cut as the dsi has sharper image and most games were designed to be played on similar sized screens while dsi xl offer bigger and dual ips displays. Same with comfort while playing.

I haven't played on my DSi XL in a while, but I don't remember it really being better than my New 3DS XL. I don't think DSi's screens are better than lite's. Also, you should note that not 100 % of DS games (such as Guitar hero) work with DSi, because it lacks the GBA port.
