Go to MyNIU Student System and select “Single Sign-On.” Sign in with your student email (ZID@students.niu.edu) and the temporary password you set. Follow the prompts to set up a password for your account.

Apply directly to NIU using our online application. Begin NIU Application. Add us to your list of schools while completing the Common App. Apply on Common App. We are currently accepting applications for Spring, Summer and Fall 2025. When you submitted your application, you received an email prompting you to activate your NIU account ID. Once you've activated your account ID, you're ready to access MyNIU. Go to myniu.niu.edu and click on MyNIU Student System. Type in your account ID (Z-ID) and password. To view the status of your application, click on the Admissions tile.
After submitting your application to NIU, you received an email from admissions@niu.edu with you NIU AccountID and the important steps you must take to activate it. To login to the MyNIU Student System, you’ll use your NIU AccountID (Z-ID).
