The Supreme Court has adopted Rule 1:27-2, which governs the mandatory limited licensing of in-house counsel who either work in New Jersey or who do New Jersey-related legal work in another United States jurisdiction. The limited licensing of in-house counsel applies only to those attorneys who are not already members of the Bar of this State.
1:27-2. Limited License; In-House Counsel. To be eligible to practice law in New Jersey as an in-house counsel, a lawyer must comply with the provisions of this Rule. Pursuant to Supreme Court R. 1:27-1(d), successful applicants from the bar examination must be swornin as an attorney-at-law of New Jersey no more than ninety (90) days after the date on which they have become eligible for the administration of the attorney's oath.
