3 Οκτ 2024 · For the 2024 season, only zones 1–5 are open for bear hunting. Apprentice License holders are not eligible to hunt black bear. The skills necessary to hunt black bear are not commensurate with an introductory hunting experience that the apprentice license program is intended to provide.
Both a valid firearm or archery or all-around sportsman hunting license and bear hunting permit are required to hunt black bears. Bear hunting permits are specific to a bear management zone. There is a physical bear check requirement (there is no Automated Harvest Report System for black bears).

6 Δεκ 2022 · The NJ Black Bear Hunt is open effective immediately today, Tuesday, December 6, 2022. The NJ Appellate Court has found the Emergency Rule valid. Hunters must check all bears harvested at a mandatory bear check station (pdf).

9 Οκτ 2024 · Bear hunting is currently only permitted in Bear Management Zones 1 – 5. Hunters may find a map of Bear Management Zones on the Fish and Wildlife website (Hunting/Bear Regulations) or by using the Hunting Explorer app. State lands have been reopened to bear hunting.
