NLMK Pennsylvania, finishing stands. The longest surviving fragment of steel production in the central part of the Shenango Valley is the hot strip mill in Farrell. The history of heavy industry began here in 1840 with the construction of the first "Clay Furnace" by industrialist Vincent Himrod.

I wanna say it’s been this way for close to 30 years now. Even when it had the BOF’s going, it wasn’t a fully integrated mill, but still produced a lot of outbound loads.
NLMK Pennsylvania is the largest plant within NLMK USA. NLMK Pennsylvania operates as a conversion mill, turning slabs into hot-rolled and cold-rolled coils. Sharon Coating is a galvanizing facility located just a few miles north from NLMK Pennsylvania.

29 Μαρ 2024 · Today, it’s called MLK Boulevard but in Farrell’s heyday it was Broadway. On one side was the mill — Carnegie Steel and Sharon Sharon Steel — and now NLMK. On the other side was the city. Still standing are the Blue Ribbon Bar and the building that housed First National Bank.
