Open the settings for your Windows 10 machine inside of virtualbox. Go to Audio > Host Audio Driver, change to "ALSA Audio Driver". Go to Audio > Audio Controller, change to "ICH AC97". Enable Test Mode on Windows 10 and reboot machine.

11 Οκτ 2008 · You're having problems with your "Windows Guest", not your "Windows Host". Moving to the appropriate area. Do not change sound controllers at random. The Intel HDA is chosen for a reason; Win10 has drivers for it by default. You need to go in the Device Manager in your guest and see what's going on.
12 Μαΐ 2014 · In the VM settings, audio shows as enabled, but of course there's no separation between input and output. When configured in Pulse/Intel mode, in the pulse volume control tool, it shows the VirtualBox / Windows 10 in the recording devices tab, and shows a moving VU meter (which is almost insulting, really! ) See the attached image.
My audio plays on the host but not on my VM. Host and VM are both Windows 7 64bit in the system tray it states No Audio output device is installed. Host has Sound blaster PCI card. Help Please.

I press on to the sound icon and it tries to troubleshoot for a fraction of a second and then says. An error occurred while troubleshooting: A problem is preventing the troubleshooter from starting. (error details)
