By 1997, more than 100 Japanese companies were represented in Houston, and persons working for these firms outnumbered Japanese Texans descended from earlier setlers. Today, the second and third generations of Japanese Texans—the Nisei and Sansei—are concentrated in Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio.
