87 Given the high respiratory drive of patients with ARDS, 88 the use of pressure support to unload the respiratory muscles can lead to excessive tidal volumes, which are associated with NIV failure 89 and may exacerbate lung injury.
static pressure–volume (PV) curve in patients with acute respira- tory distress syndrome (ARDS) indicates that some lung compart- ments do not initially receive insufflated gas.
9 Μαρ 2016 · Lower tidal volumes with FiO 2-guided higher PEEP and prone positioning ventilation and lower tidal volumes with pressure-volume (P–V) static curve-guided individual PEEP are potential optimal strategies for ARDS patients.
10 Αυγ 2006 · The pressure–volume (PV) curve is a diagnostic or monitoring technique proposed soon after the initial description of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) [1].
18 Ιουλ 2023 · Physiologically, lower tidal volume ventilation reduces driving pressure, mechanical power, and the risk of volutrauma on the ARDS lung [18,19,20]. However, low tidal volumes (4–6 cc/kg) may still result in barotrauma, particularly in poorly compliant lungs.
Where mechanical ventilation is required, the use of low tidal volumes (<6 ml/kg ideal body weight) and airway pressures (plateau pressure <30 cmH2O) was recommended. For patients with moderate/severe ARDS (PF ratio<20 kPa), prone positioning was recommended for at least 12 hours per day.
