24 Ιουλ 2023 · Lung capacity or total lung capacity (TLC) is the volume of air in the lungs upon the maximum effort of inspiration. Among healthy adults, the average lung capacity is about 6 liters. Age, gender, body composition, and ethnicity are factors affecting the different ranges of lung capacity among individuals.
TLC is about 6000 mL air for men, and about 4200 mL for women. Vital capacity (VC) is the amount of air a person can move into or out of his or her lungs, and is the sum of all of the volumes except residual volume (TV, ERV, and IRV), which is between 4000 and 5000 milliliters.
16 Ιουλ 2023 · This article looks at lung volumes and capacities, their measurements and effects of common pathology. This division allows for assessment of the mechanical condition of the lungs, its musculature, airway resistance and the effectiveness of gas exchange at the alveolar membrane.
9 Οκτ 2024 · These tests evaluate lung volume, capacity, rates of flow, and gas exchange, helping to diagnose and monitor respiratory conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and restrictive lung diseases.
