31 Οκτ 2023 · About twice as big as a house cat, the bobcat is also known in North Dakota as the wildcat. Like the other wild cats on today’s list, the bobcat is a solitary animal that hunts and lives alone most of the time. Like the other two wild cats, they typically hunt at night and have incredible eyesight.
Bobcats are about twice the size of a domestic cat with relatively long legs, short, bobbed tail, pointed ears and a facial ruff. Bobcats have soft, medium-length fur that ranges from reddish to gray, with a highly variable amount of black spotting.
Guidebooks describe the bobcat as a large-footed cat with short ear tufts and short “sideburns.” They add that their tracks are round and large, much like a domestic dog, but without the claw marks. What they don’t say outright: “Good luck spying one in the wild.”
