2 Οκτ 2023 · S/U Option and Minor Programme. 1) Satisfactory / Unsatisfactory Option. With effect from AY2024-2025, Flexible Grading Option (FGO) supersedes the existing S/U Option.
The S/U Option allows you to declare certain modules as basically pass (Satisfactory) or Fail (Unsatisfactory). EITHER way, that module will then have no effect on your GPA. If declared as Unsatisfactory, however, the AU from the module will not count towards fulfilling degree requirements.
Question. Hi seniors I'm currently deciding between nus and ntu at the moment and one of the criteria I'm looking at is the s/u system. From what I know ntu only allows you to decide before your results are out vs nus which is after.
So to calculate your GPA = [Sum of all module's (Letter grade points * MC for that module)] ÷ (All graded MC taken; excluding CS/CU, SU'd modules). For example, if you scored A+ (5.0), A- (4.5), A- (4.5), B+ (4.0), B (3.5), each with 4MC, then your GPA will be [ (5.0*4) + (4.5*4) + (4.5*4) + (4*4) + (3.5*4) ] ÷ 20 = 4.3.
The Flexible Grading Option allows a student to convert the grades of eligible courses to Pass or No Record grades, which are excluded from the student's cumulative GPA (CGPA). It will be effective from AY2024/25 and supersedes the existing S/U Option Policy.
