What can I S/U? Students enrolled from AY21/22 onwards can S/U BDE courses. For students enrolled in AY20/21 and earlier, you can S/U UE courses. For students enrolled from AY21/22 onwards, you can S/U up to 12AU of Second Major courses and up to 6AU of Minor courses.
I am also an incoming freshie like you and I heard that the S/U system for NUS is mostly applicable to year 1 mods (1k mods) and year 2 mods (2k mods) because it is supposed to cushion the transition from tertiary education to university.

The ICC-equivalent modules of the past were pass/fail 1-2AU kinda mods, now they've become letter-graded 3AU (mostly) mods, and I think generally the majority find these mods to be a massive pain now. They might've allowed S/U-ing 2nd maj mods with this in mind.
The Flexible Grading Option allows a student to convert the grades of eligible courses to Pass or No Record grades, which are excluded from the student's cumulative GPA (CGPA). It will be effective from AY2024/25 and supersedes the existing S/U Option Policy.
