The S/U Option allows you to declare certain modules as basically pass (Satisfactory) or Fail (Unsatisfactory). EITHER way, that module will then have no effect on your GPA. If declared as Unsatisfactory, however, the AU from the module will not count towards fulfilling degree requirements.
Check your NTU email, you'll most probably have the appeal forum for your course. You can appeal for the mods you didn't get. In the end, for the higher level mods, you can hardly use the S/U option. Apparently other schools like SMU has no SU option....
You can SU before or after your finals (it's a relatively long period of time). You can also change what you SU as long as it's before the deadline.

17 Μαΐ 2020 · Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory option (SU): This allows you to change a letter-graded module to a pass/fail. In general, you can exercise SU on all modules except your core modules/modules that are already on pass/fail.
