Nursing knowledge is achieved through empirical, aesthetic, personal and ethical knowing [18, 19], while intuition demonstrated as “art of nursing” or aesthetic knowing [2], other believed intuition is a “tacit or personal knowledge” [20 – 22].
This document discusses the history of nursing through four periods: the Intuitive Period from prehistoric times to the early Christian era, the Apprentice Period from the 11th century to 1836, the Educative Period beginning in 1860 with Florence Nightingale, and the Contemporary Period.
