  1. Locate a federal court case by using the Public Access to Court Electronic Records (PACER) or by visiting the Clerk’s Office of the courthouse where the case was filed.

  2. Enter at least the index number and year to find results, or select case type and court type for an exact match. If you don't know the format of the case number you are trying to search, you can enter the case number separately from the year. The year is optional.

  3. PACER provides access to the case summary, docket entries, and copies of documents filed in federal cases. If a paper document is needed, or if a case cannot be located when searching by case number, party name, or using the U.S. Party Case Index (USPCI ) then contact the Court to request a court record.
