24 Φεβ 2014 · The occipito-posterior (OP) fetal head position during the first stage of labour occurs in 10-34% of cephalic presentations. Most will spontaneous rotate in anterior position before delivery, but 5-8% of all births will persist in OP position for the third stage of labour.
24 Ιαν 2016 · At the onset of labour, an occiput posterior (OP) position occurs in approximately 25% of fetuses in the cephalic position.1, 2, 3, 4 Persistent OP at delivery occurs in approximately 10% of fetuses.5, 6 Previous studies have shown an increase in short‐term and long‐term maternal and fetal complications that are associated with the OP ...
2 Αυγ 2023 · Occipito Posterior Position (OPP) is a foetal malposition when the position of occiput is abnormal in cephalic presentation. Occiput is facing one of the sacroiliac joint (right or left, referred to as right occipito-posterior [ROP] or left occipito posterior [LOP], respectively) or sacrum (direct occipito posterior [DOP]).
Abstract. Background: The fetal occiput posterior position poses challenges in every aspect of intrapartum care-prevention, diagnosis, correction, supportive care, labor management, and delivery.
Occiput posterior (OP) malposition occurs in 10% to 20% of fetuses at onset of labor, with some citing a range as large as 6% to 41% (Gardberg, Laakkonen, & Salevaara, 1998; Polo, Chang, Herrera, & Pernoll, 2003; Senecal, Xiong, & Fraser, 2005). Its origin has been studied, with conflicting results.
The occipitoposterior position in the main is caused by the adaptation of the head to a pelvis having a narrow fore pelvis and an ample anteroposterior diameter and therefore may be considered “physiologic.” 2. Degrees of the posterior position can be differentiated.
