1 Οκτ 2024 · Hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) can arise from a variety of sources, including inadequate hand hygiene, contaminated surfaces, and improper sterilisation of medical equipment. The impact of HAIs is profound, leading to longer hospital stays, increased healthcare costs, and, in severe cases, patient death.
OSHA created a suite of resources to help hospitals assess workplace safety needs, implement safety and health management systems, and enhance their safe patient handling programs. Preventing worker injuries not only helps workers—it also helps patients and will save resources for hospitals.
This eTool outlines some of the principle occupational hazards and risks in selected hospital departments. It is relevant to all who work in the hospital setting and may be particularly relevant to those who are involved in preparing and reviewing risk assessments.
