18 Αυγ 2024 · The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Wildlife, reports that 499 bobcat sightings were confirmed in the most current report from 2020. Residents of Washington County reported the highest number in the state, at 26, but other counties nearby also recorded large numbers.
From 1970 to 2021, 4,159 confirmed sightings were documented in 81 Ohio counties. Sightings are most often confirmed through trail camera images or road-killed bobcats. Bobcat sightings are most common in southeast and southern Ohio, where populations are well established.

Recorded data shows that bobcat populations are thriving and expanding in Ohio, with more than 500 confirmed sightings by the Ohio Division of Wildlife annually from 2019 to 2021. Habitat suitability is highest in southeast and southern counties, and they are found across Ohio.
Ohio had 499 verified bobcat reports in 2017 which included 343 trail camera pictures or videos, 82 road-killed, 12 incidentally trapped bobcats, 34 photographs, and 28 sightings by Ohio Department of Natural Resources staff or other qualified personnel.
