To update your personal name, business or residence address download, complete and submit the Change Notice to the address on the form. To request a duplicate license certificate, complete and submit the Duplicate License/Registration Request to the address on the form.
All applications for new notary commissions, renewal applications, online authorizations, amendments and resignations must be filed electronically here: notary.ohiosos.gov (opens in a new window). If you have an active notary commission, please create a user account to ensure you receive email reminders prior to the expiration of your commission.
To renew your Ohio notary commission, follow the steps below: IMPORTANT: Has your commission expired or will it expire within 6 weeks? STEP 1: BCI background check. For your convenience, we conduct BCI background checks by in-person appointment at the Columbus Bar Association offices.
A non-attorney notary public’s commission expires five years from the date of issuance without the successful submission of a renewal application. The renewal application must be submitted within the three-month window prior to the expiration date. To renew, you must complete the following steps.
If you have changed your name or address, you may submit a change of personal name or address form along with a $10 fee. (The $10 fee is not required if the individual name change is the result in change of marital status) You may also change your name upon renewal of your license/registration.
