I heard a lot of complaints about photos from the iPhone 13 looking extremely unatural, blown out and looking like an oil painting. Is it only an issue when a photo is taken with non 1x zoom ? I remember this oil painting effect in old digital cameras when you digitally zoom.
The whole oil-painting look is a side effect of the noise reduction and sharpening that they do, and it’s carried through to the 14 series as well. Edit: if anyone has a better explanation for Apple’s processing I’d be happy to hear it 👀
