In 1883, the Farrand Training School for Nurses, later the Harper Hospital School of Nursing, was established. Harper Hospital continued its legacy as a military hospital by establishing base hospitals in Europe during the first and second World Wars.

16 Μαρ 2010 · In 1896 the school came under the umbrella of the University of Texas. According to the late UTMB chronicler Dr. Chester R. Burns, it then became “the first American nursing school directly affiliated with a state university.”
