26 Φεβ 2010 · In the future, On the Cutting Edge will offer several workshops in 2010 on topics central to improved teaching in the geosciences: teaching complex systems, using the Geographic Information System and remote sensing in geoscience, and teaching through fieldwork.
On the Cutting Edge builds on a strong model for workshops established over the last few decades (National Science Foundation, 1991) by adding three elements: a focus specif-ically on geoscience faculty; development of an integrated, synergistic workshop series; and capitalization of the power of the web.
Building a culture of sharing and communal improvement in support of undergraduate geoscience teaching is the goal of the On the Cutting Edge professional development program. A place is described for faculty to share their teaching expertise and to remain current with advances in geoscience.
