Various antiemetic agents have been used to prevent or reduce vomiting in children with gastroenteritis, including phenothiazines (such as prochlorperazine), antihistamines (such as cyclizine), metoclopramide, domperidone, ondansetron and dexamethasone.
Ondansetron has shown good efficacy in the prevention of acute nausea and vomiting in children receiving moderately or highly emetogenic chemotherapy and/or irradiation, particularly when combined with dexamethasone.
