1 Μαρ 2010 · Ondansetron is available as a 2 mg/ml injectable, 4 mg tablets and an oral solution (4 mg per 5 ml). The empirical dosage in cats is 0.5 mg/kg bid. Dolasetron is supplied as an injectable and as 50 mg tablets, which must be reformulated for use in cats. The empirical dosage is 0.6–1.0 mg/kg IV or PO sid.
5-HT 3 receptor antagonists (eg, ondansetron) are effective at alleviating chemotherapy-induced emesis in dogs and cats; however, they do not completely eliminate nausea. Metoclopramide has some 5-HT 3 receptor antagonist activity, but it is not as effective as the more selective drugs.

The empirical dosages in cats are 0.5 mg/kg Q 12 H for ondansetron and 0.6 to 1.0 mg/kg IV or PO Q 24 H for dolasetron. Prochlorperazine and chlorpromazine inhibit vomiting at the chemoreceptor trigger zone and directly at the emetic center.
