IS THERE A WAY TO RETAIN A LICENSE WITHOUT HAVING TO COMPLETE THE CE REQUIREMENTS FOR RENEWAL? Yes, the licensee or certificate holder may request “inactive status.” The licensee or certificate holder cannot practice in Maryland while the license is inactive.

Licenses that will expire on January 31, 2025 may be renewed beginning November 1, 2024. Licenses that have not been renewed by 11:59 pm, January 31, 2025 will be considered lapsed and the licensee will be required to reinstate their license at an additional cost.

To renew a license, must complete 40 hours of continuing education. A license holder who has a renewal period of less than two years must complete 20 hours. Read more on required subjects and accepted courses.
