The state determined it could not afford to fund schools and community colleges at this level and suspended the guarantee that year. Proposition 98 funding for K-12 schools and community colleges for 2021-22 is $85.8 billion. This represents an increased investment of $14.9 billion in schools and community colleges above the level funded in the 2020 Budget Act, and the highest level of funding for K-14 schools ever.
