It works without enclosure or housing for the woofers, although employs normal dynamics for the drive units.

18 Φεβ 2015 · I wanted to try building a line array for some time but got a bit side tracked by the concept of an open baffle. Thanks a lot Poultrygeist! That's when I thought about combining the two types of speaker designs.
In this outline I hope to illustrate the various gradient steps and considerations involved in building an Open Baffle speakers. From Wikipedia we learn that an OB or Dipole speaker is: A dipole enclosure in its simplest form is a driver located on a flat baffle panel.
17 Ιουλ 2021 · Baffles are cut from a 1-3/4” thick oak butcher block style table (curb find). The C-V woofers were also curb finds, from RE30 speakers. I had to re-foam those but they were otherwise free. Full-range drivers are Dayton PS220-8, 8”. The full-range units are recessed so that all voice coil leading edges line up.
