Learn how to open and read PDF files on your Mac without losing functionality. PDFs provide a simple, cleaned-up layout for viewing and reading. On a Mac computer, the native Preview application opens a PDF when downloaded if a separate application is not otherwise indicated as the default viewer.
Double-click a PDF or image file to open it in the Preview app. Select one or more files, then choose File > Open With > Preview. Tip: To open a document in iCloud Drive, click iCloud Drive in the Finder sidebar, then double-click the PDF to open it.
