For the first time, the 'It just works' philosophy now extends to open source video game emulation on the Mac. With OpenEmu, it is extremely easy to add, browse, organize and with a compatible gamepad, play those favorite games (ROMs) you already own. For macOS (OS X) 10.14.4 or above.
In order to play games you need the games rom or iso file depending on the type of game. Downloading those files from the internet is piracy and as such I will not endorse it here as per rule 1, but luckily there are other ways to get them that are nice and convenient.
20 Μαρ 2024 · In general, MAME ROMs are the only type that can be played inside OpenEmu. If you come across JAMMA or Neo Geo games in your search, they won't work.
