When picking squadmates I mostly prioritized the quantity of banter, as well as its thematic relevance (e.g. bringing Liara to Noveria). As for the order of missions, those mostly follow a cadence that allows all squadmates equal or quasi-equal opportunities to star in a major setpiece.
