21 Οκτ 2024 · King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud was born on December 31, 1935. He is the son of King Abdulaziz Al Saud, the founder of modern Saudi Arabia. King Salman became the Crown Prince in June 2012, following the death of Crown Prince Nayef. Before this, he served as the governor of Riyadh for over 48 years, from 1963 to 2011.

History. Origins and early history. The earliest recorded ancestor of the Al Saud was Mani' ibn Rabiah Al-Muraydi, who settled in Diriyah in 1446–1447 with his clan, the Mrudah. [13] . The Mrudah are believed to be descended from the Banu Hanifa branch of the larger Rabi'ah tribal confederation [13] [clarification needed].
The Al Saud family traces its roots back to the central region of the Arabian Peninsula, where its members were part of the tribe known as the Banu Saud. In the late 18th century, a man named Muhammad ibn Saud formed an alliance with a religious leader named Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, which led to the creation of the First Saudi State.

The Saudi family tree consists of at least six distinct branches that trace their heritage back to an 18th century founder. The "Royal" branch of the family draws its lineage through each generation's leading chieftan within the descendants of Saud, denoted below in blue, through the kingdom's modern founder, Abd al-Aziz.
