Boots of stone can be used on a drake's claw to upgrade them into boots of brimstone, which have increased stats and can also be worn as an alternative within the Karuulm Slayer Dungeon, along with granite boots.
Boots are armour equipable in the feet slot. Below are some of the many different boots that players can wear in Old School RuneScape.
Boots of Brimstone. These unique boots offer the highest stab bonus of any footwear in OSRS at a +3 boost. But they also have decent magic and range attack bonuses of +3 and +5 respectively. These bonuses make the Boots of Brimstone ideal for bosses requiring both mage and range styles, like Zulrah.
Granite boots are currently 2.5m or so and look like they will be BIS for melee in cave. After release though we will start seeing the drops that allow you to upgrade the boots of stone into the boots of brimstone, which will be the new BIS for range and mage in cave.
Drakes are monsters that require 84 slayer to defeat. The require boots of stone, boots of brimstone or granite boots to be able to enter the area to fight them. They are known for their decent loot however have slow xp rates. The fastest experience from Drakes is by using high strength bonus armour with a Dragon Hunter Lance.
I just finished the kourend elite diary and no longer have to use the boots of stone. However, im dry on the drake's claw and haven't made the brimstone boots. I'm planning to do a lot of konar soon and will likely be assigned a fair amount of drakes.
