Start the quest by speaking to Veliaf Hurtz in the secret cave of the Myreque. To get to the secret cave, travel to the Canifis town centre. Or use Fairy ring DLS. Enter the trapdoor south of the Hair of the Dog tavern. Search the wall south of the ladder and walk through the secret passage.

The fastest way is by heading south of the cave, exiting through the doors, climbing the same tree from In Search of the Myreque and using the swamp boat south, or using a portal to the Barrows in War's Retreat.
After completing the quest, you can sell every item you obtained during the quest to Yanni Salika in Shilo Village for 2,000 — 100 each for the stone-plaque, tattered scroll, crumpled scroll, Bervirius notes and the bone key, 500 for the locating crystal, and 1000 for the beads of the dead.
