Melee training involves training Attack, Strength, Defence, and Hitpoints through combat. Ironman melee training is similar to the normal training methods, with a heavy emphasis on Slayer for resources.
Use the experience on either Prayer or Herblore, as those are both relatively hard to train, and are useful or required in further quests. If using yommi trees to obtain magic logs, approximately 200 seeds are needed. Use the drop trick to obtain these from Ungadulu.
For real world practical advice, for 1-70 strength and attack you should train strength until you get a Max hit with your current gear with divine super strength potions, train strength for 3 more levels, then train attack until you unlock a better weapon.
It is strongly recommended to complete Witch's House to get Hitpoints higher. The recommended quests for early melee experience are listed in the table below. Completing all of them would give the player a total of 65,275 Attack, 27,537.5 Strength, and 15,300 Defence experience.
So... train your agility to 40 at Varrock, then complete Rune Mysteries Quest and Priest in Peril, and get your agility level to 50 at Canifis. Next, get 52 Agility at Falador, and then go on to the wilderness course.
