Due to aircraft fatigue, scarcity of spare parts and replacement problems, the US Fifth Air Force and Royal Australian Air Force created a joint P-40 management and replacement pool on 30 July 1942 and many P-40s went back and forth between the air forces.
The Seversky XP-41 was a fighter aircraft built in the United States in 1939. A single prototype was modified from the last production Seversky P-35 by adding a new streamlined canopy , a Pratt & Whitney R-1830 -19 engine with a two-speed supercharger , and revised landing gear. [ 1 ]
Curtiss P-40B Warhawk Bu No 41-13297 (G-CDWH) The Fighter Collection Warhawk is a truly unique machine, as she is the only remaining airworthy survivor from the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour on 7th December 1941.
Restored by Curtiss Wright Historical Association, using parts from 39-285, 39-287. Sold to The Fighter Collection, Duxford, England and registered as G-CDWH and currently under rebuild at Chino, CA.
The Fighter Collection’s Merlin-engined P-40F is one of only two left airworthy anywhere in the world. Manufactured at the Curtiss facility in Buffalo, New York in the autumn of 1942 and allocated Bu No. 41-19841.

The first enemy aircraft destroyed over Australia by an Australian was by Sqdn Ldr R Cresswell in a P-40E (A29-113) on 25 November 1942 when he shot down a Mitsubishi G-4M ‘Betty’ bomber.
