5 Σεπ 2018 · The P-40 was among the most abundant American fighter aircraft of the Second World War, owing to its low production cost. It was only superseded in numbers by the P-51 Mustang and the P-47 Thunderbolt.
20 Οκτ 2017 · Warhawks constituted the principal armament of the U.S. Army Air Forces (USAAF) fighter squadrons throughout 1942 and 1943. Even after the appearance of newer types of fighter aircraft in the USAAF rendered the P-40 obsolete, it continued to contribute to victory in a variety of Allied air forces.
4 Ιουν 2024 · Note: A P-40 in the RNZAF Pacific Theatre colours, was originally a USAAF P-40 which crashed landed in 1942, sent to Australia in 1989 to then restored by the Air Force Museum of NZ from 1996 to 2013 and put on display.
