11 Οκτ 2022 · The design of the P41 was more lethal and powerful than previous fighter aircraft used by the United States Air Force. Engineers added two extra feet onto its frame, which made it look sleeker and longer in contrast to its portly predecessors.
The chosen engine was the Pratt & Whitney R-1830-19 of 1,200hp, fitted with an integral medium-altitude two-stage mechanical supercharger. A contractual modification enabled Seversky to complete the airframe to a standard similar to that of the private-venture AP-4.
