Continuing Education Period: Your current 5-year Act 48 compliance period. If your period is longer than 5 years, a legislative extension may have been applied. More information on the details of specific extensions can be found on our FAQ page. Required Hours: A total of 180 hours is always required for Act 48.
Educators can maintain active status by meeting continuing education requirements or may request voluntary inactive status from PDE's Bureau of School Leadership and Teacher Quality via TIMS to suspend the requirements of Act 48.
Beginning July 11, 2000, Act 48 of 1999 required persons holding Pennsylvania professional educator certification to complete continuing education requirements every five years in order to maintain their certificates in active status.
Act 48 of 1999 requires all Pennsylvania educators holding Pennsylvania public school certification (including Instructional I and II, Educational Specialist I and II, Administrative, Supervisory, Letters of Eligibility, and all vocational certificates) to participate in ongoing professional education.
Continuing Education and Renewal Date: •Licenses issued before January 1, 2020 – April 30th of every even-numbered year. •Licenses issued after January 1, 2020 – Every two (2) years on the anniversary of the date the license was issued. Hours Required by Rhode Island Real Estate Commission: 24 hours.
Every two years, on even numbered years (2022, 2024, etc.) real estate agents and brokers need to complete 24 credit hours of continuing education. At least nine of the 24 credit hours must be a CORE topic. You can complete more than nine, but not less and the remaining credits can be electives.
