Therefore, the purpose of this subchapter is to establish guidelines for the approval, design, erection, maintenance and funding of logo signing along Interstate highways and other freeways for gas, food, lodging, camping services, and general attraction destinations. Authority .
Logo Signs were designed as a motorist information network to help motorists find much needed services. Logo signs are installed along certain sections of Pennsylvania’s Interstate Highway system as well as on many non-interstate freeways.
Logo Signs feature logos of businesses located off an upcoming exit from an interstate or freeway. These signs are official traffic control devices, and the program is administered by the PA Tourism Signing Trust. Businesses meeting the criteria for the program may apply to have their logo included on these signs following a participation fee.
What signs, other than official traffic signs, are permitted within the right-of-way? Municipalities may request PennDOT’s permission to install temporary signs or banners above or within the highway right-of-way.
