When your SERS-participating employer adds you to their payroll, they include information like your home address. That payroll information is automatically sent to us. That is how we learn that you are a new SERS member.
It's also helpful to read your SERS newsletter and review your annual statement when it's mailed to you each January or when you sign in to SERS online member services. You can also sign up to have retired member updates sent to you by e-mail .
Our online employer services allow the convenient exchange of information. Access must be approved by both SERS and the employer before an account is created. Access to specific tools and data are granted, depending upon the employer and the level of authorization needed.
New employees are automatically enrolled in Class A5. After enrollment, you will be contacted by SERS and given 45 days to make an optional, one-time election to switch to Class A6 or Class 40, the Straight Defined Contribution/Investment Plan.
