8 Ιαν 2008 · Paint Township. Paint Township was part of Shade Township until 1836. Ogle Township separated from Paint in 1886. Paint Township and Paint Borough took their names from Paint Creek, which reflected color from shale and iron deposits.
14 Σεπ 2015 · Paint, the seventeenth of the twenty-five townships of Somerset County, was named after Paint Creek and formed in 1837 from a part of Shade township. John Fyock is believed to have been the first settler, and to have cleared the first land within the territory which now constitutes Paint township.
Paint Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. Paint Township, established as a separate Township from Shade in 1836, was first recorded on the Somerset County Tax list in 1837. At the time of its formation, the Township was bordered on the east by Bedford County and on the north by Cambria County.
Located in northern Somerset County, Paint Township has the distinction of having the largest and most diversified population in the county. Initial settlers came from Maryland and the eastern Pennsylvania counties of Berks, Lancaster, York and Franklin.
