Our survey includes almost 60 % of all palm species currently reported for West Africa. We also present analyses on the taxonomic, floristic, growth habit and morphologic diversity, the ecology and the economic importance.
13 Ιαν 2017 · This chapter reviews the special morphology of palms, and discusses its relevance to Rhynchophorus ferrugineus and Paysandisia archon damage and treatment. A short description of the main palm species native to southern Europe and the Mediterranean region is provided as well.
The date palm (Phoenix dactylifera) is the dominant component upon which the sustainable biophysical and socio-economic structures of the oasis ecosystem are based; a fruit tree with unique nutritional, biochemical and biophysical characteristics, a rich source of aesthetic and cultural values, and a genetic resource.
