  4. Pancreas divisum (PD) is a congenital anatomic variant in which the dorsal and ventral pancreatic ducts completely or partially fail to fuse and drain separately into the duodenum. Thus in these patients the majority of pancreatic ductal system drains via the dorsal duct through the minor papilla.
