Soleri is best known for Arcosanti, the experimental city he founded some 70 miles north of Phoenix as a laboratory for exploring concepts in sustainability and design.

Paolo Soleri (21 June 1919 – 9 April 2013) [1] was an American architect and urban planner. He established the educational Cosanti Foundation and Arcosanti. Soleri was a lecturer in the College of Architecture at Arizona State University and a National Design Award recipient in 2006.

Paolo Soleri died in 2013 at the age of 94 in his home at Cosanti and, at the time of his death, few finished examples of Soleri’s architectural work remained in existence and Arcosanti was considered to be only 20% complete.
