I had a Paragard for 10 years in my 20s and early 30s and had no problems other than maybe slightly heavier menstrual cramps. Then I had a Mirena and loved having NO periods! This time around, though, I'm getting another Paragard because I want to avoid messing around with my hormones.
I got Paragard because of a bad reaction to the pill, but in the end, my gyn convinced me to at least try Mirena, and I’ve never looked back. No periods, no side effects, no surprise babies, and I was able to get pregnant my first cycle off of it.
4 Δεκ 2021 · I had the Mirena (hormonal) IUD before getting pregnant and I am planning to get the copper IUD after giving birth. I chose the copper one since it won’t be hormonal since I want to breast feed. Low to no hormones are best for breastfeeding.

For reference, I have had two IUDs to date: Paragard and Mirena and basically have a textbook case of endometriosis when it comes to symptoms. The first IUD I got was Paragard, I took some ibuprofen and went in for the procedure.
