The new period of works funded by NSRF 2014-2020 comprises an extensive intervention programme in the Parthenon concentrating mainly on the pediment of the west side and on the side walls of its cella. The programme of restoring the west pediment started in June 2017.

26 Σεπ 2017 · Also planned are restoration works on the north wall of the Parthenon’s Cella, while activities such as the fluting of columns in the Pronaos (east porch) and the rehabilitation and repositioning of marble roof beams over the monument’s western colonnade will also continue.
12 Αυγ 2019 · In the Parthenon, the cella held the chryselephantine statue of Athena Parthenos, a work by Pheidias. The goddess’ clothes were crafted from gold, while the exposed parts of her body were ivory. Today, the cella walls represent an amazing restoration challenge.
28 Ιουλ 2024 · The marble columns of the Parthenon are being restored and most likely you will see scaffolding holding up the portions of the Parthenon during your visit. Many of the artifacts have been moved to the Acropolis Museum, located in Athens, and the British Museum, located in London.
