17 Οκτ 2009 · I have run the XP’s Home or Small Office Network File and Printer Sharing Wizard on both the XP Computers. I have set the same User name and Password on both Vista and XPhome. When using Vista if I try to open the shared docs on XPhome I am asked for username/password. The prompt responds with logon unsuccessful.

Go to File > Info > Protect Document > Encrypt with Password. Type a password, press OK , type it again and press OK to confirm it. Save the file to make sure the password takes effect.
