In the fall of 2001, a one semester, six credit-hour Emergency Medical Technician course and a three semester, 33 credit-hour Paramedic course was adopted. The Emergency Medical Technician program was offered as an evening course each fall and spring semester.
Our mission is to provide an evolving and dynamic education and training program to new and existing EMS and Allied Healthcare Professionals that meets and exceeds the current standard of care. The EMT education program includes everything from basic EMT courses to PHTLS (Pre-Hospital Life Support) training.

Paramedics perform interventions with basic and advanced equipment found on an ambulance. The paramedic is a link from the scene into the health care system. The UMKC Paramedic Program is approved by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Bureau of EMS (09529T6).
